ANKARA
On the occasion of his formal visit to Turkey with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Foreign Minister of Palestine Riyad Malki delivered a speech at the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research in Ankara, the Turkish capital on Wednesday.
Recalling the process of Palestinian issue in the history, Malki blamed the international community for not taking responsibility in order to find a permanent solution to the issue.
"I do certainly believe that if the international community wants to be serious, they have to behave differently. It is not enough if anyone issuing statements or condemning what Israel really does in the territory. Stating and re-stating again their position about the Palestinian state solution. It is not changing what really is taking place on the ground," said Malki.
Noting that involvement of the third party was a must to continue negotiation, "We need involvement of the third part. We cannot continue talking about direct negotiations only between Israelis and Palestinians without the presence of the third party. Serious third party that could bring ideas to the two sides and it can stand up and say who is preventing finding an agreement or solution to the conflict. We cannot go alone like that without a third party," Malki said.
Stating that they demanded to carry on negotiations, Malki said that to continue those meetings Israel had to stop building housing units and should free the Palestinian prisoners.
Malki also stated that if Israel drove a nail on the residential area of Ivan that aimed at breaking Palestine's territorial integrity, they would go to the International Criminal Court.
