WASHINGTON/BOSTON
Finest examples of the Turkish Ottoman classical music, also known as the 'saray' or 'art' music, were performed Monday in a closing of the 12th Turkish Film and Music Festival in Boston, the United States.
A trio of harp, classic kemenche -- a traditional Turkish string bowed instrument -- and a vocalist recited works by various neo-classic and contemporary Turkish composers on different makams, traditional Turkish Ottoman musical scales.
The audience gave a cheerful ovation to the performers at the end of the event.
