MERSIN, Turkey
A teenager, who was injured during “unauthorized protests”, died in Turkey's southern Mersin province, security sources said on Tuesday.
According to the security sources, PKK supporters held an unauthorized demonstration, made a fire, blocked the road and clashed with police in Mersin's town of Tarsus.
Davut Ozer, 13, who was injured during the clashes, died in a private hospital where he was taken after the incident.
Another teenager had died and four others had been injured during “unauthorized protests” in Turkey’s southeastern province of Diyarbakir on Tuesday.
A group of people protesting Turkish army’s anti-PKK operations in the Sur district of Diyarbakir, wanted to march to six neighborhoods that are under curfew.
Five people had been injured during clashes with police, including a 14-year-old child who later succumbed to his wounds at Dicle University Medical Faculty Hospital in Diyarbakir.
The PKK -- considered a terrorist organization also by the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign in late July. Since then, more than 200 members of the security forces have been martyred and over 1,700 PKK terrorists killed.
