Virtus Bologna inks Daniel Hackett to contract until 2024
Italian guard one of several players to leave CSKA Moscow after Russia's war on Ukraine

ISTANBUL
Virtus Bologna announced a two-year deal Thursday with former CSKA Moscow star Daniel Lorenzo Hackett.
The 34-year-old Italian guard is one of several players to leave CSKA Moscow after Russia began its war against Ukraine.
Hackett helped CSKA Moscow win their eighth Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title in 2019.
He averaged 8.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 22 EuroLeague games this season.
Hackett has 114 appearances for the Italian national basketball team.
Russia's war on Ukraine, which began Feb. 24, has met international outrage with the EU, US, and UK, among others, implementing tough financial sanctions on Moscow.
More than 1 million people have fled Ukraine to neighboring countries in one week, according to the UN Refugee Agency.
