Tunisia shocked already-qualified France 1-0 in the FIFA World Cup's Group D match on Wednesday, but still could not qualify for the Round of 16.

In the eighth minute, Tunisia's Nader Ghandri netted a goal, but his volley was ruled offside in the match held at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar.

Wahbi Khazri's hard shot was thwarted by France goalie Steve Mandanda in the 35th minute.

Khazri tried a shot from distance, but it was over the bar and the first half ended goalless.

In the 52nd minute, Tunisia midfielder Aissa Laidouni missed an attempt, but Khazri scored in the 58th minute. The left footed shot from the center of the box to the bottom right corner was assisted by Aissa Laidouni.

French star Kylian Mbappe's attempt was saved in the 89th minute, while Antoine Griezmann netted one in the 98th minute, but the referee disallowed the goal for offside after a VAR review, and the game ended 1-0.

With Australia recording a 1-0 victory over Denmark in the other match in Group D, Tunisia's hopes of progressing had been dashed. France, meanwhile, are through to the last 16.
