ISTANBUL

British broadcaster ITV News revealed the widespread destruction across the Gaza Strip through one of the first aerial footage it obtained in months.

Footage that aired Monday from aboard a plane dropping aid into Gaza, shows the scale of destruction.

The images show entire swathes of land reduced to rubble, with areas once dotted with greenery now turned to dust.

The remains of the Al Wafa Centre for Eldxerly Care are visible, now largely reduced to debris, along with the surrounding neighborhood.

Journalists are prevented from entering Gaza, so the aerial footage is one of the few glimpses into the extent of the destruction.

Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, Israel has pursued a brutal offensive on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, killing more than 61,000 Palestinians, almost half of them women and children. Israel’s military campaign has devastated the enclave and brought it to the verge of famine.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
