World No. 1 Iga Swiatek of Poland was eliminated from the 2022 Wimbledon's third round after a shocking defeat against France's Alize Cornet.

Ranked 37th in singles, Cornet, 32, beat Swiatek with the sets of 6-4 and 6-2 at London's No. 1 Court.

Cornet also ended Swiatek's 37-match winning streak.

Swiatek, 21, is a two-time Grand Slam champion, winning the French Open (Roland Garros) in 2020 and 2022.

Cornet qualified for the Wimbledon fourth round, where she will take on Australia's Ajla Tomljanovic.

Tomljanovic eliminated Czech 13th seed Barbora Krejcikova 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 in a third round match.

Frenchwoman Cornet, who turned pro in 2006, has never won a Grand Slam.
