Poland and Turkey will seek to improve relations during the Polish foreign minister's visit to the country, Poland’s Ambassador to Turkey told The Anadolu Agency.
"Our bilateral relations are perfect. We do not have any issue which can disturb our cooperation. Now, we will discuss how we can increase our relations further," Mieczyslaw Cieniuch said in an interview Monday.
Polish Foreign Minister Grzegorz Schetyna will pay an official visit to Turkey from March 24th to 26th on the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu.
The ministers will exchange views on all aspects of Turkey-Poland relations as well as on regional and international issues during his visit. Business forums are planned to take place both in Ankara and Istanbul.
The foreign minister will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the minister of agriculture, the presidium of parliamentarian foreign affairs committee, senior government officials, representatives of several institutions, besides top businessmen, according to the Polish embassy.
"Our trade volume is about $6 billion. It is not a lot, when we are talking about the scale of our economies," said Cieniuch.
The ambassador said Poland sells agricultural equipment, agrochemicals, fertilizers, coal mining security systems and automative components. He added Poland is buying household equipment from Turkey.
"Turkish exports to Poland increased 5 percent and the Polish export to Turkey increased 2 percent in 2014," said Cieniuch.
Turkey's export to Poland stood at $2.4 billion in 2014, while its import was $3 billion, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute, TUIK.
When asked about why Poland has not been affected from the financial crisis in Europe, Cieniuch said "We did not have a crisis so far. We still have GDP increasing. That is because we organize our economy before the crisis."
He showed their "healthy" labor market and high level of education as second reason.
Poland's gross domestic product grew 3.3 percent in 2014, according to Poland's Central Statistical Office.
Cieniuch said Turkey and Poland celebrated the 600th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2014. "We built our relations for 600 years. This means, we have achieved a lot. There is always an opportunity to do something better."
