Ivory Coast has defeated opponents Japan 2-1 at Arena Pernambuco in Recife in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Group C match.
Japan took the lead when their midfielder Keisuke Honda fired a ferocious drive by his left foot in the 16th minute on Saturday. The first half ended 1-0.
In the second half, Ivory Coast made a precious comeback in two minutes. Two Ivorian attackers, Wilfried Bony and Gervinho found the net each consecutively in the 64th and 66th minute of play. After the shock goals, Japan were demoralized and Ivory Coast dictated the tempo of the play until the final whistle.
Meanwhile in other game of the group, Colombia cruised past Greece 3-0 thanks to goals scored by their defender Pablo Armero, forward Teofilo Gutierrez and star James Rodriguez.
