Barcelona's chairman Rosell resigns

MADRID 

Chairman of Barcelona Sandro Rosell resigned on Thursday upon the Neymar's transfer crisis. Vice president of Catalan giants Josep Maria Bartomeu took the chair until 2016. 

After his resignation, former chair of Barcelona Sandro Rosell made a speech in front of the press.

"During the time I have served the club as a chairman, I have encountered many good things and bad things as well such as receiving threats over me and my family. Like Neymar incident I don't want to get attacked in an unfair manner on behalf of the club and myself. So I decided that my chairmanship within this club should be over and I submitted my resignation in a way of no return," said Rosell.

After Rosell concluded his remarks, new chairman of Barcelona Josep Maria Bartomeu stated that the club belonged to the members and they would be strong to defend the club and he wanted to be supported by all members to maintain the success achieved so far. 

In Neymar incident, Barcelona have asserted that Brazilian Neymar had costed Catalan club for 57.1 million euros totally but according to a Spanish newspaper, El Mundo, it was claimed that the total cost of the transfer had been almost 95 million euros including the commissions paid by the club.
