Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Tuesday that he discussed ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict with US President Donald Trump over the phone.

"A productive conversation with President Trump, with the key focus of course being ending the war. We are grateful to @POTUS for all efforts toward a just and lasting peace," he said on X.

According to Zelenskyy, he coordinated positions with Trump, exchanged assessments of the situation and agreed that Russia has intensified attacks.

"President Trump is fully informed about Russian strikes on Kyiv and other cities and communities," he said.

Sanctions against Moscow were also on the agenda, Zelenskyy said, noting that Trump's threat to strengthen pressure on Russia's oil sector "can change a lot."

"We discussed joint European decisions that can help our defense. We already have commitments from the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark – over one billion dollars for American weapons that Ukraine will receive. Thank you! This cooperation with NATO countries will continue," he added.

Another topic of the conversation was bilateral defense cooperation, he said, adding that the draft agreement on drones has already been prepared by the Ukrainian side. He said Kyiv is ready to discuss the draft in detail and conclude it, emphasizing it can be "one of the strongest agreements."

Trump announced his intention to significantly increase tariffs on India within 24 hours due to its purchase of Russian oil. He claims that a drop in oil prices "by another $10 per barrel" could "force" Russia to stop fighting in Ukraine, which continues since February 2022.
