Traveling to the second-largest city of war-torn Ukraine, Anadolu Agency has captured images of the front line near Kharkiv, where the country's fight against Russia continues.

Explosions are frequent on the front, located nearly 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) from the northeastern city which is the scene of clashes as both sides use mortars and unmanned aerial vehicles.

The hotspot area has been a contact point between Russia and Ukraine since the beginning of the war on Feb. 24.

Ukrainian soldiers stand watch day and night in specially prepared bunkers, as air temperatures rise.

While most families have left their homes in nearby villages, a small number of elderly people, who have no means to leave or nowhere to go, remain.

Russian forces have recently started launching almost daily missile attacks in Kharkiv.

No close contact, more mortars

Staying with other soldiers in a bunker at the front, Ukrainian soldier Roman, whose last name is being withheld for security concerns, said that the war continued in the region with mostly artillery attacks.

Roman, 49, said the conflicts in the region continue uninterrupted with helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Another soldier, Aleksander Zalezniyak, also said the clashes went on for 24 hours and that he had not seen his wife and children for months.
