Russia and Ukraine accuse each other of launching overnight attacks
Moscow, Kyiv claim some 200 drones from each side were shot down overnight
MOSCOW
Russia and Ukraine on Thursday accused each other of launching overnight attack targeting energy infrastructure.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Telegram that Russia launched over 200 drones, claiming most of them were shot down.
According to him, drone targeted objectives in Volyn, Rivne, Zaporizhia, Odessa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv regions.
"Goals are our energy. Wherever necessary, rescuers help, power engineers work to restore electricity after impacts. Thank you to everyone and everyone involved in the elimination of consequences," he said.
He also urged the US to deliver to Ukraine "everything that was agreed" during the December peace talks in Florida.
"We hope that everything that was agreed with America at the end of December to protect us will arrive on time. I am grateful to everyone for their willingness to be with Ukraine and work for our common security," he said.
Meanwhile, the Russia's Defense Ministry said a Ukrainian Su-27 fighter jet, a guided aerial bomb and 250 drones were shot down overnight across multiple Russian regions overnight.
"The Russian Air Force shot down a Su-27 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force. A guided aerial bomb and 250 aircraft- type drones were shot down by air defense systems," it said.
Independent verification of claims of both sides is challenging due to the ongoing conflict.
