UN: Cyprus peace talks to resume
Date set for TRNC President and Greek Cypriot leader to resume negotiations

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus President and Greek Cypriot leader will meet next week to pursue Cyprus peace talks, the UN has announced.
The pair will meet on May 11 in an event hosted by UN Envoy Espen Barth Eide, the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces in Cyprus, or UNFICYP, said on Sunday.
The meeting will take place at Ledra Palace, the base of the U.N.-controlled buffer zone in Lefkosa, according to a statement issued by the UNFICYP.
Peace talks between Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot zones have been on hold since October.
Since the collapse of a joint government in 1963, Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots have tried to find a comprehensive settlement to renew their partnership.
The island has been divided into a Turkish-Cypriot government in the northern third and a Greek Cypriot one in the southern two-thirds after a 1974 military coup by Greece was followed by the intervention of Turkey as a guarantor power in Cyprus.
Reunification talks were unilaterally suspended by the Greek-Cypriot side last October after Turkey issued a navigational telex on behalf of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for seismic research off the coast of Cyprus.
