Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu met with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday for a conversation that ranged from Cyprus to the troubles in Syria and Iraq, the UN chief's office said.
Davutoglu and Ban were in the Swiss resort of Davos to attend the World Economic Forum meetings.
Their talk touched on international efforts to combat Daesh, according to a UN readout of the meeting. They also discussed recent developments in Turkey and the Cyprus peace process.
"[Ban] thanked Turkey for hosting the upcoming World Humanitarian Summit, which will take place in May 2016 in Istanbul," the statement said.
Turkey’s biggest city will host the first-ever global humanitarian summit of this scale.
