Syrian forces push toward Hol oil field and Habur Dam as clashes escalate in southern Hasakah
MANBIJ / HASAKAH, Syria
Under a ceasefire and full integration agreement in Syria, the Syrian Army entered the town of Sarrin on the Ayn al-Arab (Kobani) front after intense clashes, while heavy fighting continues with the YPG/SDF terror group elements in the southern part of the Hasakah province.
Both sides are using heavy weapons in the ongoing clashes in southern Hasakah, according to Anadolu correspondents in the region.
Army forces have entered the strategically important Hol oil field and are attempting to establish control over the area.
As the Syrian Army advances toward the Hol Camp -- where ISIS (Daesh) terror group members' families, mostly women and children, are held -- it has also taken control of the area containing wheat silos.
Army units had recently secured control of the Habur Dam, also located in southern Hasakah.
Ayn al-Arab front
On the Ayn al-Arab front, military activity continues near the Karakozak Bridge, which provides access to the region from Manbij across the Euphrates River.
Terrorists firing from elevated positions at the bridge are preventing the army from crossing the bridge.
Following fierce clashes in the town of Sarrin, located around 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) southeast of the bridge and 35 kilometers (22 miles) south of the district center of Ayn al-Arab, army units entered the town.
As fierce clashes continue in the town of Sarrin, the army is attempting to establish control.
Developments came as the Syrian Army continued to advance toward Hasakah and the northern city of Ayn al-Arab (Kobani), as part of a recently signed agreement with the SDF, which is dominated by the terror group YPG, the Syrian branch of the terrorist PKK.
Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa announced a ceasefire and integration agreement with the SDF late Sunday to integrate its members into state institutions.
