ISTANBUL

Israeli forces targeted a Syrian television crew and several journalists in the countryside of Quneitra on Wednesday while they were covering the falling of an Iranian drone, Syria’s Al-Ikhbariyah TV reported. 

The journalists were reporting on the drone after it was brought down by Israeli air defenses when they came under direct fire, the outlet said. 

No injuries were reported among the journalists, the channel said. 

The development comes amid heightened regional tensions, as the US and Israel have been carrying out airstrikes on Iran since Feb. 28, killing more than 1,340 people so far, according to Iranian authorities. 

Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
