High‑resolution satellite imagery released Thursday showed oil storage tanks severely damaged at the United Arab Emirates' Fujairah Oil Industry Zone amid the ongoing conflict between the US, Israel and Iran.

According to images provided by the digital atlas, Soar, at least two oil tanks were burning with a large black plume of smoke rising early Thursday, while another appeared to have been completely burnt.

Soar, which claims to be the world’s biggest digital mapping platform, said the images were captured at 10.47 am local time (0647GMT).

Earlier Tuesday, local authorities announced that a fire had broken out at Fujairah Port after fragments fell from an unmanned aircraft intercepted by UAE air defenses.

Regional tensions have escalated since the US and Israel launched a large-scale attack on Iran Saturday, killing several top Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In response, Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as Gulf countries that host US assets.
