Kuwait says it detected 5 ballistic missiles, 9 drones
Attacks caused injuries, property damage, says army
ISTANBUL
Kuwait said Thursday that it has detected five ballistic missiles and nine drones, that caused injuries and property damage.
Four of the missiles were intercepted and destroyed, with one falling "outside the threat zone," the army wrote on US social media company X.
Two of the nine drones "targeted vital facilities," it said, and explosions “heard in some areas of the country were the result of air defense systems intercepting hostile aerial targets."
It urged the public to "strictly follow the safety and security instructions issued by the relevant authorities."
The army said that the Kuwaiti Armed Forces is ready to "deal with any threats and will confront anything aimed at undermining the country’s security, ensuring the protection of its sovereignty, security, stability, national interests, and capabilities."
Regional escalation has flared up since Israel and the US launched a joint attack against Iran on Feb. 28 that has so far killed more than 1,200 victims, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and injured over 10,000, according to Iranian authorities.
Tehran retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets.
