Lebanon’s top military court on Friday sentenced former Information and Tourism Minister Michel Samaha to 13 years in prison for terrorism.

Samaha was charged with “transferring improvised explosive devices from Syria to Lebanon to perform terrorist attacks in the northern parts of the country, in coordination with Ali Mamlouk, head of the National Security Bureau of the Syrian intelligence [agency].”

The court’s decision is final and cannot be appealed.

Samaha was arrested in August 2012 after confessing to planning explosions in northern Lebanon during Ramadan, in coordination with the Syrian regime.
