Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi arrived in Qatar on Thursday, where he was received by Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Qatar’s state news agency QNA reported Sisi’s arrival in Doha from the United Arab Emirates, without giving details about his agenda.

In Abu Dhabi, the Egyptian president held talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss regional developments amid military escalation between Iran and the US and its potential repercussions on regional and international security and stability.

The two leaders also discussed avenues for cooperation and joint action, particularly in economic and development sectors, and ways to enhance them, according to the Emirati news agency WAM.

Regional escalation has continued to flare since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, killing so far around 1,300 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
