Biden says he is 'fully supportive' of Israel following Iranian ballistic missile attack
'Attack appears to have been defeated and ineffective,' says US president
WASHINGTON
US President Joe Biden on Tuesday said he is "fully supportive" of Tel Aviv in the wake of an Iranian ballistic missile attack on Israel.
"Based on what we know now, the attack appears to have been defeated and ineffective, and this is a testament to the Israeli military capability and ... intensive planning between the United States and Israel to anticipate and defend against the brazen attack we expected," said Biden at the White House.
"Make no mistake, the United States is fully, fully, fully supportive of Israel," said the president, adding the US is in constant contact with Israel.
Iran fired about 200 ballistic missiles at Israel amid heightened tensions between the two regional arch-rivals.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRCG) said the attack was in response to the assassinations of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and IRGC commander Abbas Nilforoshan.
