11 killed, 18 injured in Israeli airstrikes on southern, eastern Lebanon
Airstrikes hit Baalbek, Sidon and Nabatieh areas, destroying homes
ISTANBUL
At least 11 people were killed, and 18 others injured in Israeli airstrikes on southern and eastern Lebanon, the country's official National News Agency (NNA) reported Friday, citing statements from the Health Ministry.
NNA said that two lost their lives and eight sustained injuries in an Israeli airstrike on Kfar Rumman town.
Separately, the agency said that an Israeli air raid on Hawita al-Ghadir area at dawn resulted in the killing of two people.
An airstrike on a residential home in Saksakieh, a town in the Sidon district, killed four people and injured eight more, as per preliminary information, the agency said.
In a separate strike, two people were killed, and a house was destroyed in the town of Zoutar al-Sharqiya in the Nabatieh region, according to NNA.
In eastern Lebanon, the broadcaster said one person was killed and two others were lightly injured when Israeli warplanes struck a house in the town of Bazaliyah, north of Baalbek, destroying the building.
Israel has pounded Lebanon with airstrikes and launched a ground offensive in the south since a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2.
Lebanese authorities say at least 1,116 people have been killed and 3,229 injured in Israeli attacks since then.
The escalation came amid a joint US-Israeli offensive on Iran, which has killed more than 1,340 people since Feb. 28. Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and US bases in Gulf countries.
