The Anadolu Agency revealed an exclusive series of photos Friday from World War I from the archives of Turkey's General Staff, on the 100th anniversary of the four-year war .
The photos showcase Ottoman soldiers in poor conditions at various front lines in the Middle East, the Balkans and central Europe.
Speaking to AA, Mehmet Ali Beyhan, the head of the Ataturk Research Center, said the war had immense consequences as it claimed millions of lives, tore down empires and created new states.
Beyhan also said the "chaos" in the Balkans and the Middle East is the legacy of World War I.
