UK prime minister, Qatari emir reaffirm commitment to full implementation of Gaza ceasefire
Two-state solution that will guarantee security and stability for Israel alongside a sovereign and viable state of Palestine, will ensure a better future for all, say leaders

LONDON
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani agreed Monday on the importance of maintaining pressure on parties to ensure that the Gaza ceasefire deal is fully implemented.
During a phone call with the Qatari emir, Starmer thanked him for his leadership in securing a ceasefire deal, said a statement from the British Prime Minister's Office.
"They both agreed on the requirement to maintain pressure on both sides to ensure that the deal is fully implemented, seeing the release of all hostages and an increase of aid into Gaza," it added.
Starmer noted that Britain will continue to be "at the forefront of efforts" to ensure long-term peace in the Middle East.
Both leaders agreed that a two-state solution that will guarantee security and stability for Israel alongside a sovereign and viable state of Palestine will ensure a better future for all.
Israel launched a genocidal war on Gaza that has killed nearly 47,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, since a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023.
On Sunday, a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Israel and Hamas took effect at 11.15 a.m. local time (0915GMT).
The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants in November last year for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on Gaza.
