ISTANBUL

The Turkish foreign minister on Friday hosted the second foreign ministers' meeting of the Balkans Peace Platform in Türkiye.

Hakan Fidan convened the meeting in Istanbul, according to Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Fidan held separate bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, and Albania, the ministry said.

"We are in agreement that the platform, which we brought to life under the leadership of our country, provides an important framework that strengthens regional ownership in the Balkans, deepens dialogue and produces concrete areas of cooperation," Hakan Fidan said on US social media company X.

He emphasized Türkiye's role as a unifying actor and said Ankara places importance on developing what he described as a results-oriented and inclusive mechanism.

​​​​​​​Fidan added that Türkiye would continue to contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in the Balkans and to lead initiatives aimed at investing in the region’s shared future.
