BELGRADE, Serbia

Slovenia on Sunday imposed temporary limits on fuel purchases at gas stations nationwide, as authorities seek to ease supply disruptions affecting petroleum products.

Under the new measures, individuals are allowed to purchase up to 50 liters of fuel per day at a single station, while legal entities and self-employed individuals, including those in agriculture, are limited to 200 liters.

The restrictions will remain in place until further notice.

The Slovenian Armed Forces have been mobilized to assist in fuel distribution, with personnel supporting transport and supply operations.

Authorities also called on distributors to better coordinate deliveries from storage facilities to gas stations in order to accelerate supply and improve efficiency.

Fuel retailers must regularly report on gas station conditions to the government, helping guide decisions on any further measures.

Prime Minister Robert Golob said the government is also considering steps to further restrict fuel sales to foreign nationals and has advised retailers to prepare for possible implementation.

Supply shortages have been most pronounced at energy company Petrol, which has been criticized by Golob. The company said it is making maximum efforts to ensure a stable supply across its network.
