ISTANBUL
Slovenia wil host the 38th FIBA EuroBasket Championship, one of the most prestigious basketball titles in the world. Twenty-four teams for a second time will join the championship that will begin on Wednesday.
Spain are the reigning champions and the favorites to win this year's championship, which will end on September 22.
France, Russia, Lithuania, Greece, Turkey and Slovenia will also provide formidable competition.
Turkey's first game will be against Czech Republic, which will be followed by games against Spain, Georgia, Croatia, and Poland.
The first European Championship was held in Geneva in 1935 with the attendance of 10 teams.
Least participation was in Egypt in 1949 with 7 teams.
