The warhead of a Russian missile that landed in Poland in April has been found in a forest near Bydgoszcz, the head of the president's office, Pawel Szrot, told radio station RMF FM on Friday.

“The warhead has been found and is being examined by the relevant institutions. It is special because it is made of concrete,” Szrot said.

“I assume that it was mounted on this missile in such a form that this older model of the missile could confuse the Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense,” he explained, adding there was no explosive on the missile.

The “unidentified military object” fell in December 2022 and was found in late April in the village of Zamosc near Bydgoszcz, 226 kilometers (140 miles) northwest of the capital Warsaw.

According to the Air Force Institute of Technology, the object was a Russian Kh-55 cruise missile, RMF FM reporters said.
