Automotive sector leads monthly gains as energy production declines
ISTANBUL
Industrial output in Germany rose 0.8% on a monthly basis in November 2025, defying market expectations, according to data released Friday by the country’s statistical authority, Destatis.
The increase followed a 2% monthly rise in October, while markets had forecast a 0.6% decline for November.
The growth was mainly driven by a strong expansion in the automotive industry, Germany’s largest industrial branch, which recorded a 7.8% increase month-on-month in November.
The increases in the manufacture of machinery and equipment (+4.3%), and machine maintenance and assembly (+10.5%) also had a positive effect on the overall production.
By contrast, energy production declined sharply, falling 7.8% on a monthly basis.
By contrast, the energy production posted a decline in November, down 7.8%.
In November, industrial production excluding energy and construction increased 2.1% compared to the previous month.
On an annual basis, production in industry excluding energy and construction rose 1.3% compared to November 2024.
Germany’s overall industrial output also increased 0.8% year-on-year in November, Destatis said.
