Former Greek Cypriot president Dimitris Christofias died at the age of 72, the administration's health minister announced on Friday.
Constantinos Ioannou confirmed Christofias’ death and offered his condolences.
Serving Greek Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiadis also expressed his sympathy to Christofias' family.
Christofias served as president of Greek Cyprus between 2008 and 2013, leading the leftist AKEL party.
