Denmark spotted new drones hovering over several Armed Forces sites overnight, days after closing several airports due to unmanned aerial vehicle activities in the country, local media reported on Saturday.

Drones were spotted overnight at several of its locations, according to DR News, which cited confirmation from the Danish Armed Forces.

The exact locations of the incidents, as well as the number of suspicious drones, were not disclosed. However, the broadcaster identified Karup Air Force Station, the country's largest military base with approximately 3,500 personnel, as one location for drone activity on Friday night.

The latest drone activity came after Danish authorities closed airspace over multiple airports late Thursday amid reports of drone activity, prompting flight diversions and heightening security concerns over what Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen described as “a hybrid war unfolding on Danish soil.”

While officials have not identified those behind the incidents, Frederiksen pointed to Russia as the primary threat.

On Sept. 10, a suspected Russian drone strike also hit Polish territory, prompting NATO to deploy fighter jets. Romania and Estonia made similar accusations, which Russia denied.
