LONDON
A second man has been charged in connection with a series of arson attacks on properties and a car linked to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the Metropolitan Police confirmed on Tuesday.
Stanislav Carpiuc, a 26-year-old Romanian national from Romford, was arrested by counterterrorism officers at London Luton Airport on Saturday.
He is charged with arson with intent to endanger life and conspiring with Roman Lavrynovych, 21, and possibly others, in connection with three separate fires.
Two incidents occurred in Kentish Town, north London, including one on May 12 at Starmer’s former residence before his move to Downing Street.
Another fire involved a car set alight on the same street on May 8.
Prosecutors allege the accused intended to endanger life or was reckless as to whether life would be endangered.
He was held in police custody following his arrest and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday morning.
Lavrynovych, a Ukrainian national from Sydenham in southeast London, has also been charged with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life in connection with the fires.
He denied the charges during a police interview and appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday. He was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at the Old Bailey on June 6.
A third man, aged 34, was arrested on suspicion of arson in Chelsea, southwest London, on Monday. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
