Switzerland held the opening ceremony for a 6.7 megawatt capacity solar project in Canton of Jura, located in the northwestern part of Switzerland, the company announced Monday.
The project was undertaken by logistics company GEFCO, energy and infrastructure company BKW and EDJ, the energy company of Jura.
Total investment for the project, which took 10 months to complete, was 12 million Swiss francs ($11.85 million).
The plant has been live since September.
Overall, the project has 23,886 photovoltaic panels which generates 6.7 gigawatt-hours of electricity a year, equal to the power consumption of 1,500 households.
With the solar plant, Switzerland saves 2,400 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
