ANKARA (AA) - Global wind energy installations increased by 165 gigawatts (GW) in 2025 to reach 1,299 GW, according to latest figures from the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) on Monday.
China's record installations brought its cumulative total to over 640 GW, a testament to wind's position at the heart of the largest power system globally, the "Global Wind Report 2026" showed.
Meanwhile, India's record additions reinforce wind's centrality to the world's fastest-growing economy.
In Europe, Germany added a combined 5.7 GW from onshore and offshore wind, while Brazil contributed 2.3 GW, underscoring that wind remains the workhorse of the energy transition in the largest economies of every region.
Türkiye added 2.1 GW last year, consolidating its position as one of the most active onshore markets in the region with nearly 16 GW cumulative capacity.
The global wind industry remains committed to the growth pace required to meet the UAE Consensus goal set at COP28, tripling global renewable energy capacity by 2030, though the report underlines that further acceleration is required to approach this target.
