The oil rig count in the U.S. remained unchanged this week, according to oilfield services company Baker Hughes data on Friday.
The number of oil rigs in the country stayed at 869, the data showed.
Shortly after the release of the data, international benchmark Brent crude was trading at $71.44 per barrel at 1715 GMT. American benchmark West Texas Intermediate was at $65.47 a barrel at that time.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) data showed Wednesday that crude oil production in the U.S. increased by 60,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 10.9 million bpd for the week ending Aug. 10.
This marked the 27th time crude oil production in the U.S. showed an increase in the past 31 weeks.
The U.S.' crude oil production is expected to average 10.7 million bpd in 2018, and 11.7 million bpd in 2019, according to the EIA's Short-Term Outlook report for August.
