Türkiye's total oil imports increased by 13.2% to 3.83 million tons in May 2022, according to data released by the country's energy watchdog on Wednesday.
Crude oil imports, the category with the highest oil import volume, rose by 14.7% in May to 2.97 million tons, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) said in its monthly report.
Türkiye imported the majority of its oil and oil product needs from Russia in May, totaling 1.69 million tons. Iraq and Kazakhstan followed with 924,337 tons and 284,280 tons, respectively.
Oil refinery product exports increased by 12.7% to 1.18 million tons, while output also rose by 17.5% to 3.53 million tons.
Total domestic oil product sales rose by 19.5% year on year in May to 2.49 million tons.
