Turkey Zorlu Energy along with the Jerusalem District Electricity Company (JDECO) will install a 1.8-megawatt (MW) solar energy power plant in the Jericho district of Palestine, Turkey's Zorlu announced in a statement Wednesday.
Zorlu Energy and JDECO established a new company in May and opened a branch in Palestine for its renewables operations in the country.
Zorlu Enerji Elektrik Uretim A.S. (Zorlu Energy Electric Production A.S.) will hold a 75% stake in the newly formed company; ZJ Strong Energy For Renewable Energy Co. Ltd. while Jerusalem District Electricity Co. Ltd. will hold the remaining share interest.
To meet Palestine's electricity needs, the newly established company plans to install solar power plants in various regions of the country.
Commenting on the recent solar power collaboration, Zorlu Energy CEO Sinan Ak said the company would use its 25 years of renewable energy experience in different countries to expand its business with the aim of reaching a total installed solar capacity of 100 MW in Palestine.
