ANKARA
Stock markets in Asia closed on Tuesday with gains except for China’s Shanghai stock exchange.
The Asia Dow, which includes the region’s blue-chip companies, gained 58.9 points, or 1.57%, to close at 3,825 points.
The Nikkei 225 index in Tokyo rose 510.1 points, or 1.77%, to hit 29,302 at close.
The Japanese manufacturing activity posted a solid albeit slightly softer improvement at the end of 2021, with Jibun Bank Japan manufacturing purchasing managers’ index (PMI) falling to 54.3 in December.
The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, climbed 15.1 points, or 0.06%, to 23,290.
China’s Shanghai stock exchange was the sole index on negative territory, falling 7.45 points, or 0.20%, to 3,632 points.

Fueled by stronger increase in production, the Caixin China general manufacturing PMI rose to 50.9 in December, its highest level since June.
The Indian Sensex benchmark went up 528.5 points, or 0.89%, to close at 59,711 points, while the Singapore index increased 47.1 points, or 1.50%, to 3,181.
