US-Japan bilateral ties be conducive to regional peace, stability and not harm interests of others: China
It comes after recent meeting between US President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at White House
ISTANBUL
China on Monday said that US-Japan bilateral ties should be conducive to regional peace and stability, and not to target other countries' interests.
"Development of US-Japan bilateral relations should be conducive to regional peace and stability, and should not target third countries or harm the interests of other nations,"Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian told reporters in Beijing.
Lin was commenting on questions regarding Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's recent US visit and her meeting with President Donald Trump on Thursday, local English daily Global Times reported.
''The two leaders committed to peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait as an indispensable element of regional security and global prosperity, supported the peaceful resolution of cross-Strait issues through dialogue, and opposed any attempts to unilaterally change the status quo, including by force or coercion,'' said a joint statement after the summit.
