Russia says another round of war prisoner exchange with Ukraine being prepared

MOSCOW

Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova announced Thursday that war prisoner exchanges between Russia and Ukraine are currently being prepared.

She said at a media briefing in Moscow that the parties are discussing the exchange of military personnel and civilian captives.

"Negotiations are underway, and we have lists. We very much hope that both the exchange of prisoners of war and the return of civilians will indeed take place," she said.

Moskalkova noted that "the date is usually not disclosed, especially since there are many components involved in resolving this issue."

She added that contacts between the human rights commissioners of Russia and Ukraine are being conducted through various channels, including calls and correspondence via messengers.

"We are negotiating with the human rights commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada. But our greatest concern is for the seven residents of the Kursk region who have been detained for over a year, and a decision on the dates for their return has not yet been determined," Moskalkova stressed.

She emphasized that the return of the residents of the Kursk region remains the priority for Russia at talks in all formats.
