China probes agriculture minister over 'violations of discipline, law'

ISTANBUL

China is investigating its agriculture minister for “suspected serious violations of discipline and law,” state media reported on Saturday.

Tang Renjian, 61, who also holds portfolio of rural ministry, “is currently under disciplinary review and investigation” by the Communist Party of China (CPC), Beijing-based daily Global Times reported.

He is being investigated for “suspected serious violations of discipline and law” by CPC’s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission.

Tang previously served as governor of north-central Gansu province.
