SRINAGAR, Jammu and Kashmir

Three suspected militants were killed in a military operation in the capital Srinagar, Indian-administered Kashmir on Monday, the Indian Army said.

The army said security forces began operating in the Lidwas area of Harwan village after receiving specific inputs of the presence of the militants.

“Contact established in General Area Lidwas. Operation in progress,” Indian Army’s Chinar Corps said on X.

The Indian Army, paramilitary forces and local police jointly conducted the military operation to take out the suspected militants.

In another post, the army said that under Operation Mahadev, “three terrorists have been neutralised in an intense firefight. Operation Continues.”

Since last December, this is the second military operation in the area.

Officials said additional reinforcements were rushed to the area to support the operation. Drones were also pressed in for surveillance.

The army said that the identity and group affiliation of the militants killed are yet to be confirmed.
