TURKISH ADMINISTRATION OPENS TENDER FOR GALATASARAY STADIUM
ANKARA - The Turkish housing administration opened on Friday a tender for the new Galatasaray stadium.
The Housing Development Administration of Turkey (TOKI) will hold a tender for construction of Turkish first division soccer team Galatasaray in Seyrantepe neighborhood of Istanbul.
The tender will be in "share of income in return for plot" method.
The TOKI will receive bids till July 17, 2009, and will hold a transparent tender.
It will not be an international tender, however Turkish and foreign construction companies or consortia can join it. The bids will be submitted in Turkish.
The TOKI annulled a contract with Eren Talu-Alke joint venture on Thursday for the contractor had not fulfilled its obligations within the given period.
In August 2007, the Eren Talu-Alke joint venture submitted the lowest bid and won the tender for construction of the Seyrantepe Sports Complex, which will replace Galatasaray's actual Ali Sami Yen Stadium in Mecidiyekoy neighborhood.
The foundation of the new sports complex was laid on December 13, 2007. The Eren Talu-Alke firm committed to build the complex within 24 months.
The Aslantepe stadium with a retractable roof panel will have a capacity to host 52,000 spectators, and will approximately cost 130 million Euros. There will be a parking lot for a total of 4,500 vehicles, including a closed parking lot for 3,000 cars.
