WASHINGTON

The US Department of State said Thursday it approved the possible sale of Ku Band Multi-Function Radio Frequency System Radars and related equipment to Jordan.

The estimated cost is $280 million, the department said in a statement.

"The proposed sale will improve Jordan’s capability to meet current and future threats by sustaining a credible force that can deter adversaries and participate in CENTCOM operations," it added.

The principal contractor will be RTX Missile Defense Technologies in the state of Arizona.

The department delivered the required certification notifying Congress of the possible sale on Thursday.
