Trump says he has ‘a very high grade of morality’; neither courts, Constitution sets limits on his authority

WASHINGTON

US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that his authority is limited not by the Constitution or courts, but by his own “morality.”

Asked during an interview with CBS News about his previous remarks that the only thing that can stop him is his “own morality,” not international law, Trump responded, “I'm a moral person. I don't like seeing death. I don't like seeing our people hurt. I don't like seeing the other side hurt either.”

Noting that he did not like that people “on the other side” were killed in the US military operation in Venezuela, Trump said, “It's limited by my morality, and I have a very high grade of morality, so therefore it's limited.”

Asked if his power was not limited by the Constitution or courts, Trump responded, “We'll never get to the courts. We'll never get to the Constitution, because I want to see what's good for our country, and you know what the courts want to see that too.”
