ISTANBUL
Russia’s state nuclear energy corporation Rosatom on Tuesday condemned a strike near Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant, calling for de-escalation around the facility.
In a statement, Aleksei Likhachev, the head of Rosatom, said the company “categorically condemns” the attack and urged all parties involved in the conflict to make every effort to ease tensions around the nuclear plant.
The statement said radiation levels around the Russian-built facility remain normal and that no staff members were injured.
Earlier, Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, cited by the Tasnim news agency, said a projectile struck an area near the Bushehr nuclear plant.
