ALEPPO, Syria
U.S-led allies have hit an ISIL-controlled oil infrastructure in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor city, according to the Syrian Network for Human Rights.
The UK-registered organization said in a statement on Friday there were casualties and injured in the site and the oil refinery had also been damaged.
According to the Local Coordination Committees (LCC) of Syria, the allies hit the 93rd division of the militant group in the north Syrian province of Raqqa.
Having taken major oil fields in the north of Syria, ISIL is rumored to be earning millions of dollars and to have created a local market in which they produce, refine and sell oil within the country to other opposition-held areas, as well as the Assad regime, either directly or indirectly.
The U.S. has conducted 20 strikes against ISIL-held targets in Syria and nearly 200 airstrikes against the group in Iraq.
Meanwhile, clashes between ISIL and Kurdish groups are continuing close to the border crossing in Turkey’s southeastern Suruc.
The four-day clashes in Kobani (Ayn al-Arab) intensified early on Friday, when ISIL militants using heavy weapons captured the sites of Kurdish forces.
About 140,000 people have fled ISIL following its offensive against the mainly Kurdish town, fearing the atrocities it has been committing.
Turkey opened its border to the refugees last Friday.
