BAGHDAD
At least 21 people died and 49 others were wounded in a suicide bomb attack in the Shiite majority district of Kazimiyah, in the north of Baghdad on Thursday evening.
The bomb blast occurred at the Bab al Darwaza market. No one has claimed responsibility.
The attack comes after Sunni militants led by Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) have made advances in the country since June 10 when they seized Mosul and a number of other local towns in the north and west.
Iraq has seen a marked increase in sectarian violence between Sunni and Shi’a Muslims in recent months, which the Iraqi government blames on ISIL.
