Resistance alive in al-Qusayr: ex SNC chief

Cairo (AA) - Rebel forces continue to resist in the strategic city of al-Qusayr, former SNC leader Moaz al-Khatib told AA.

"Al-Qusayr has not fallen completely," he said following a bilateral meeting with Arab League Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi. "The resistance continues under very difficult conditions but without interruption."

Al-Khatib discussed with al-Arabi the last Arab League conference on Syria, AA correspondent says.

Arab League members earlier issued a resolution condemning foreign intervention in Syria. "We hear a lot; but now we expect concrete steps," said al-Khatib of the 22 member regional organization.

With regards to the European Union lifting arms embargo on Syrian rebels, he said: "Europeans talk much; but we have not seen any action."

Syrian state-owned news agency SANA said earlier this week al-Qusayr was recaptured by forces loyal to Syria's embattled leader Bashar al-Assad. SNC Interim President George Sabra called the international community's attention on potential massacres by pointing to hundreds of injured in the city.
